Sgt. Chad's Weekly Crime Roundup



These are arrests reported by Sgt. Chad Payne, information officer for the Dade County Sheriff's Office.

On Thursday, Sept. 21, at approximately 3 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted in the 1500 block of Porter Road on a vehicle driven by Arthur Lee Watkins, 25, of Flat Rock, Ala.


It was found that Watkins was in possession of methamphetamine and Schedule 4 pills. He was charged with:

  • Failure to Use Turn Signal

  • Pills Not in Original Container

  • Possession of Methamphetamine

  • Possession of Schedule 4 Pills.


On Saturday, Sept. 30, at approximately 3 a.m., a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle driven by Shane Joseph Coughlin, 38, of Ooltewah, Tenn. It was found that Coughlin was in possession ​​of a Schedule 1 drug (heroin), and drug-related objects. He was charged with

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Drug

  • Possession of Drug-Related Objects

  • Possession of Drugs By An Inmate.

On Sunday, Oct. 1, at approximately 11:15 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle in the 5000 block of Highway 136 West driven by Billy Ray Moon, 27, of Wildwood. After field sobriety tests were conducted, it was found that the driver was driving under the influence of drugs. There was also a child in the vehicle.


Moon was ​​charged with

  • Driving Under the Influence

  • DUI Child Endangerment

  • Suspended Registration

  • No Insurance

Also, Dade County deputies conducted a safety checkpoint on Friday, Sept. 29, in the area of Highway 136 East and West Creek Drive. That Checkpoint yielded three arrests for DUI and 1 arrest for driving on a suspended License:

  • Patrick Hammer: Open Container Violation, DUI

  • Starlana Camp: DUI

  • Ronald Knight: Failure to Maintain Lane, DUI

  • Joan Coleman: Driving While License Suspended/Revoked
