New Salem has a new restaurant, Pat's Place, in the site of the old Bea's Restaurant next door to the Canyon Grill. Open until 7 p.m. weeknights and 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, Pat's Place serves meat-and-three-vegetable specials as well as short-order fare like hamburgers and sandwiches.
The restaurant is operated by Pat Green, formerly Pat Massey, and her family.
On Friday, the menu was catfish and shrimp with hushpuppies the size of tennis balls and assorted side vegetables, with a beef stew combo and a big steak meal also featured. The fish and veg were pronounced delicious by The Planet's trusted source.
The Planet can personally speak for the cheeseburger.
