The Trenton Farmers Market has expanded its hours and will now be open for business one evening a month as well as every Saturday morning.
Henceforward, the market will be open on the town square from 5-8 p.m. on the last Thursday of the month. Last Thursday was the last Thursday in August, and this small assortment of vendors -- admitting sheepishly that they had neglected to alert the local press of the new hours-- appeared on the square with baked goods, crafts and table-groaning piles of fresh summer produce.
By The Planet's calculations, the "next last Thursday" is Aug. 25. The public is invited to stop by then and buy what the vendors described as copious harvests of delicious locally grown vegetables.
For morning people, the market will continue opening on the square from 9 a.m.-noon each Saturday.
As always, all local farmers or gardeners with a bit extra to sell are encouraged to show up and vend on the square for no fee, with free canopies provided by the market. Setup starts an hour before the market opens.
