Gunter Lamarel “Red” Avans, 87, of Chattanooga, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018. Lamar was a native of Dade County who currently resided in Chattanooga. He was a rare man whose generosity and compassion toward others extended to all people, not just family and friends. Until his health failed he worked tirelessly to help others.
