Lamar Avans

November 24, 2018

Gunter Lamarel “Red” Avans, 87, of Chattanooga, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018. Lamar was a native of Dade County who currently resided in Chattanooga. He was a rare man whose generosity and compassion toward others extended to all people, not just family and friends. Until his health failed he worked tirelessly to help others. Avans and wife, Wanda, of Huntsville, Ala.; daughter Trena Holaday and husband, Tim, of Flintstone; son Gary Avans, Chattanooga;  son Stephen Avans and wife Carrie; grandsons Scott Reid, Lucas Avans and Darrell Avans; granddaughters Heather Junkins, Alicia Avans and Emmaleigh Avans; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Sherman Avans, Gary C.
