Sgt. Chad Reports Meth Arrests

Sgt. Chad Payne is information officer for the Dade County Sheriff's Office.


In the early morning hours of September 27, Dade County deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Highway 301 South on a vehicle that had improper registration.

While the deputies were investigating the stop, the male occupant of the vehicle took off running, resulting in the deployment of a taser. He was caught very quickly by deputies.


The male was found to be in possession of a Schedule 1 narcotic, and he had a warrant through Walker County for other drug-related charges. 


The female occupant of the vehicle was found to be in possession of three separate bags of methamphetamine, several syringes and approximately 106 pill capsules containing a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

The male subject arrested was ​Mason Gregory. 24, of Mentone, Ala.. He was charged with:​​

  • Obstruction of Law Enforcement

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Narcotic

  • Warrant

The female arrested was Jacquelyn Wooten, 36,  of Trenton. She was charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine (2 counts)

  • Possession of Methamphetamine w/ Intent to Distribute

  • Possession of Drug Related Objects
